Section 02

Insurance Policy

24 Sports requires teams to have appropriate insurance coverage.

Coverage

Teams must obtain and provide proof of insurance prior to their first game played. It is the team's responsibility to secure insurance that meets the required standards.

Compliance

Teams that do not provide proof of compliant insurance coverage will not be allowed to participate in events. No exceptions will be made, and no refunds will be issued for missed games or events.

Claims Process

In the event of an injury, eligible individuals must follow the claims process outlined by their insurance provider — which may include submitting medical documentation, completing claim forms, and meeting any additional requirements specified by the provider. Once a claim is submitted, the insurance provider will contact us for any necessary information.

Coverage Limitations

Insurance coverage may have limitations, deductibles, and exclusions specific to the policy obtained by your team. All participants are encouraged to review their policy details to fully understand their coverage.

Requesting a Grade Exception

Grade exceptions must be communicated to 24 Sports prior to the first game of the weekend, including a copy of the report card and birth certificate. Email: info@play24sports.com. No other form of communication will be considered.

Email Subject line: "Grade Exception:" [Tournament Date]-[Tournament Name]-[Age Division]-[Team Name]-[Player Name]

Email must include parent contact information.

Proof of Age

24 Sports staff may request proof of age at any time during the tournament. Parents are expected to provide a birth certificate and school record as proof of age. The most reliable form of identity verification is the child's online school record; if unavailable, 24 Sports staff will use their best judgment to determine age eligibility.

Age Protest Policy

  • Timing of Protests: Must be initiated by the end of the first completed inning of a game. Protests raised after the first inning will not be considered.
  • Ineligibility Consequences: A player found ineligible due to age must be immediately removed from the game and will not be allowed to participate in the remainder of the tournament. The head coach will also be ejected from the game.
  • Grade Exception Misuse: If a grade exception is determined to have been used as a disguise for an age policy violation — the player must sit out for the remainder of the tournament, and the head coach will be ejected from the current game and restricted to the dugout for the remainder of the tournament.
  • Team Continuation: Despite the ineligible player and ejected head coach, the team may continue playing in the tournament with the remaining eligible players and a designated coach.

Section 04

Scores & Bracket Seeding Procedures

The umpire card serves as the official score of record and must be confirmed and signed by the head coach and/or team scorekeeper. In the event of any score discrepancies, notify the site director within 1 hour of the score update.

Bracket seeding procedure is final. Suggestions or feedback regarding amendments may be submitted to info@play24sports.com.

Seeding Criteria

  1. Pool Play Record: The team's win-loss record during pool play.
  2. Total Runs Allowed: If tied on record, the team with fewer runs allowed receives higher seeding.
  3. Run Differential: If still tied, calculated as total runs scored minus total runs scored against. A higher differential results in better seeding.
  4. Head-to-Head: If only two teams remain tied, the head-to-head result determines seeding.
  5. Coin Flip: If no prior criterion provides a clear distinction, a coin flip determines the final seeding.

Section 06

Bat Protest Policy

All decisions made by 24 Sports staff are final and must be respected.

Coaches and parents are asked to give 24 Sports staff space and time to evaluate a protest. Once staff is aware, the reporting parent or coach should resume watching the game until notified otherwise.

  1. Initial Notice of Protest: Must be made during the inning when the bat is first used. Protests in subsequent innings may only be initiated by the umpire.
  2. Official Protest: Made by the head coach of record to the plate umpire. Protests via phone or direct communication with the site/tournament director, or from anyone other than the head coach of record, are not official. The umpire notifies the site director, and the game continues unless otherwise instructed.
  3. Evaluation by Site Director: The site director visits the dugout to evaluate the bat, or may confiscate it for further evaluation. Play continues, and the player resumes with a different approved bat.
  4. Bat Evaluation: The site director refers first to the 24 Sports Bat List Reference Guide, then evaluates the bat according to 24 Sports Bat Rules in accordance with NFHS standards.
  5. Determination of Bat: If staff cannot definitively determine illegality by NFHS standards but considers the bat a distraction, they may remove it without penalty. If the bat should not return to the game, it's tagged and confiscated for the remainder of that day's games — pickup after the team's last game, or the parent may take it to their vehicle.
  6. Illegal Bat Penalty: If deemed illegal per NFHS rules or the Bat List Reference Guide: if determined in the same inning it was used, the batter is out and any runs from that hit are void. If determined in a subsequent inning, the prior inning's score stands and that batter is out in the next inning.
  7. Disputed Decision: If the decision is not respectfully accepted, the ejection policy applies.

Section 07

Payment, Cancellation & Weather Policy

Full payment for the tournament must be completed for a team to be fully confirmed. Our primary focus is giving kids the opportunity to play and have a positive experience.

Refunds

Once payment has been made, refunds will not be issued. Tournament credits are provided toward future events. For any approved refunds under unique circumstances, a $50 admin fee will be deducted (excluding online transaction fees).

Cancellations

Teams that cancel 7 or more days before the event start date receive a transferable tournament credit. Cancellations made after that timeframe are not eligible for credit. Teams that forfeit after games have started will not receive a refund or transferable credit.

Weather

Safety is our top priority, especially for outdoor sports. We work closely with field staff and 24 Sports advisors to make informed decisions in the best interest of keeping kids safe. In the event of unfavorable weather, we may delay the start of games and assess field conditions; if weather persists after a delay, we will reschedule or cancel.

Rainout / Weather Cancellation Credit

  • No games started: 100% transferable credit
  • One game started: 50% transferable credit
  • Two games started: no credit

Lightning Policy

Based on guidelines from NFHS, NCAA, and the National Weather Service:

  • Lightning activity is monitored using Perry Weather Technology or a similar application.
  • If lightning is detected within a 10-mile radius, gameplay is suspended for 30 minutes from the last strike.
  • The 30-minute countdown restarts with each subsequent strike within the 10-mile radius.
  • Coaches, players, and spectators must seek shelter in their vehicles during delays.
  • Gameplay resumes once 30 minutes have passed since the last strike within the radius.
  • If delays extend beyond 2 hours, 24 Sports Management will make a schedule decision. Head coaches are the initial point of contact for timely updates.

Shortening Game Duration

In cases of inclement weather or unforeseen circumstances, game durations may be shortened to avoid games ending after 11:00 p.m. — in the best interest of players and staff, and in accordance with our contracts with the municipalities where events are run.

When shortening games, priority is given to letting the home team take their final at-bat whenever possible. If a drop-dead time is needed, the final score is determined based on the last completed inning.

Games shortened this way are still considered completed — no refunds or tournament credits will be issued.

Section 08

Ejection Policy

We're committed to a fun, safe experience for everyone. Winning isn't something we can control, and the competitive nature of the game can sometimes lead people to act out of character — it's on all of us to prevent escalations and de-escalate when tensions arise.

Any act of violence or significant threat of violence requiring law enforcement intervention results in an immediate and irrevocable ban. Offenders may be subject to criminal trespass for all 24 Sports events in any city, plus a $1,000 fine. The offender's name must be made accessible to 24 Sports — if not disclosed, the head coach assumes responsibility for the team's behavior until it is.

Banned participants receive written documentation from 24 Sports, distributed to all 24 Sports staff and affiliates, and shared with each municipality where 24 Sports operates. A team may continue participating in future events without the banned participant(s), as outlined in that documentation.
